Waitakere rugby club is a community focused group run by a community minded, rugby loving, committee who have or have had children play at this club. We are always in need of more people to join our team so if you love our club as much as we do get in contact.

Junior registration's are open! The cost this year is $80 per player. We also offer a family discount to $40 for the 3rd child and thereafter.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL - from now to the 15th of March. $70 per child. 2+ siblings will be $35 thereafter.

How do I register to play rugby at Waitakere Rugby Club?

What is ‘weigh in’ and do I need to attend?

All tackle grade players must weigh in to complete the registration process. All new players (playing tackle) also need to weigh in. This is a requirement set by Auckland Rugby union.

If your child is playing rippa or rip rugby this year they do not need to weigh in.

When does the season start and finish?

The season starts on the first weekend after the April school holidays (the last weekend in April) and finishes on the last weekend in August. Games are played on all available Saturdays excluding public holiday weekends (Easter, ANZAC and Queens Birthday) and the middle week of school holidays.

When are trainings?

Team training days and time will be advised by your coach once you have been allocated a team. Teams will be finalised in late March-early April.

Training for Tackle grade teams is generally Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm and Rippa grades are Wednesday from approx 4:30 pm.

Most games are played on Saturday mornings with U6/U7 Rippa grade kicking off at 8:30am or 9:15 am.

U8, U9, U10 games kick off from approx. 9:15 am. U11, U12, U13 starting from 11-1130 am.

My daughter wants to play rugby, what grade can she play in?

We have a number of Girls only grades available for 2024:

Girls under the age of 7 play rippa in mixed teams. Girls are also able to play in any of the mixed tackle teams.

When are games played?

Games are played on a Saturday morning at the following kick-off times;

8:30am - U6/U7 Rippa

9:15am and 10:15am - U7 Rippa/U8/U9/U10

11:30am – U11/U12/U13

Based on previous years games are played one week home and the next away. The locations of the away games will depend on what pool your team has been placed into. Most of the rippa games will be played in the West/Central Auckland area.

When can I expect to be contacted about what team I am in?

We try to have all teams confirmed by early April. You will be contacted by your team coach/manager around this time.

I would like to play with my friends, can we go on to same team?

We will do our best to accommodate all requests where possible. Some of our teams fill up really fast so make sure you register as early as possible. When you register online please put a note in the comments section.

What team uniform do I need?

All players must wear Waitakere rugby shorts and socks. These can be purchased on any of our registration or weigh in days.
